According to customs statistics, China totally imported 326,500 ton cotton in January, 463,900 ton less than December 2011, with a drop of 58.7%. The average import price was $ 2,401 per ton, $ 75, or 3% down than November 2011, a decrease of 15.3% than last January. In 2011/12 season (from September 2011 to January 2012), China had already imported 2 million tons of cotton; 724,000 tons more than the same period last year, an increase of 56.7%.
At the same time, the textile export also generally went down in this month. According to the latest customs statistics, China\'s textile and apparel export reached $ 21.519 billion, a decline of 1.03% than December 2011, 0.47% down than January 2011. As in the export value, textile items (including textile yarn, fabrics and related products) took $ 7.677 billion, 6.84% down than last January. Only clothing items (including clothing and accessories) reached $ 13.842 billion and gained an increase of 3.45% than last January.
