By the end of October, new seasonal cotton reserve purchase has accomplished of 1.8 million ton, far more than the number at the same time last year. Reserve trading remains the major sell channel for ginners and the spot market was weak, most big-bale ginners chose to speed up the processing and trade with reserve, commercial carryover stocks reduced instead of building up in the prime time of new arrivals as usual, which was also less than the same timeframe last year. For advanced process in Xinjiang, commercial carryover stocks comprised of nearly 60% of Xinjiang cotton, 20% inland cotton and 20% import cotton.

According to survey to 124 warehouses by CCA Cotton Warehousing and Logistics Branch, by the end of October, 2012, commercial carryover stocks were 428,000 ton, including 344,000 ton in inland warehouses, and 84,000 ton in Xinjiang warehouses, 41,000 ton less over the month, and 120,000 ton less than the same timeframe last year. In the commercial stocks, there are Xinjiang cotton of 257,000 ton, 85,000 ton of inland cotton and 86,000 ton of import cotton. Based on this, the national commercial cotton carryover stocks was estimated 513,000 ton, 47,000 ton less over the month. And during the current month, there was 114,000 ton commercial cotton dispatched via 22 transfer stations from Xinjiang to inland, 84,000 ton more than last month, while 56, 000 ton less Y/Y. 

1. Inland commercial carryover stocks
By the end of October, commercial cotton carryover stock in 102 warehouses was 344,000 ton, 22,000 ton less over the month, while 150,000 ton more than last September. The inland stock includes 175,000 ton from Xinjiang, and 85,000 ton from inland, and 84,000 ton of import cotton. 

As for the distribution of inland stocks, Shandong and Jiangsu provinces still have the largest shares, about more than half of the national total, then followed by Henan, Hebei and Hubei provinces. Among these, Shandong has 21%, 6% less over the month, Jiangsu was still 33%. Henan was 11%, 2% less over the month; Hubei was 10%, 7% up over the month; Hebei was 5%, 3% less over the month; Anhui was 3%, 2% more over the month and Hunan was 1%, unchanged. 

2. Xinjiang commercial carryover stocks 
By the end of October, the carryover stock in 22 warehouses in Xinjiang was 84,000 ton, 19,000 ton less over the month, while 279,000 ton less Y/Y. Among these, 82,000 ton was Xinjiang cotton and 2,000 ton of import cotton. 

For this month, commercial cotton transported via railway was 114,000 ton, 84,000 ton more over the month, while 56,000 ton less than last September. Calculation based on this was 27,000 ton Xinjiang cotton still on the way by the end of October.
