In May, cotton purchase of textile was still dominated by reserve cotton and import cotton, spot market was sluggish. The national commercial cotton carryover stocks stayed stable, and much lower than the corresponding period of previous years. Xinjiang railway transport was occupied mostly by reserve cotton, and leaving road to commercial cotton, for this month 1,703 vehicles of cotton was transported out of Xinjiang.
 
According to survey to 154 warehouses by CCA cotton warehousing and logistics branch, by the end of May of 2013, commercial cotton carryover stock totaled 287,000 ton, 278,000 ton from inland stock and 9,000 from Xinjiang stock, 6,000 ton up over the month, while 856,000 ton less than last May. Among the stock, 33% is Xinjiang cotton, 11% is inland cotton, and 56% is import cotton. Based on this, the national commercial carryover cotton stock estimated to be 357,000 ton, 8,000 ton more over last month. During this month, 4,000 ton commercial cotton was dispatched to inland via railway from 22 Xinjiang transfer stations. The amount is 1,000 ton less over the month, and 195,000 ton less than last May.

By the end of April, the commercial stocks in 131 inland warehouses hit 278,000 ton, 9,000 ton more over the month, while 494,000 ton more Y/Y. Among the stocks, 31% of Xinjiang cotton, 10% of inland cotton and 59% of import cotton.
 
As for the distribution of the stocks, Shandong and Jiangsu provinces still hold the largest shares with more than half of all, then followed by Anhui, Henan, Hebei provinces. In details, Jiangsu has 29%, unchanged over the month, Shandong increased 12% over the month to 34%, Henan held 8%, 1% lower over the month; Hebei was 3%, 2% down; Anhui was 4%, unchanged; Hubei held 1%, 8% down over the month; and Hunan was 1% with no change.
 
Xinjiang commercial carryover stocks
 
By the end of April, the carryover stock in 23 warehouses in Xinjiang was 9,000 ton, 1,000 ton more over the month, while 362,000 ton less Y/Y. All the stocks are Xinjiang cotton.
 
In the month, the commercial cotton transported via railway was 4,000 ton, 1,000 ton less over the month, while 195,000 ton less than last May. Based on this, there is 1,000 ton Xinjiang cotton still on the way by the end of May.
