Australian wool exports totalled 26,655 tonnes during June, nearly 8% down on the previous month but 18% higher than the year-earlier figure. The cumulative total for the 2012/13 season rose to 331,794 tonnes, just over 4% higher than the corresponding level during 2011/12. The upturn was almost entirely attributable to an increase of 8% in exports to China, which increased in importance to Australian shippers, claiming 79% of the total, versus 76% during the previous season. Of remaining destinations, only the Czech Republic of the larger markets recorded a rise in shipments compared with 2011/12.
