Thousands of visitors worldwide came to this year’s Yarn Expo - the specialised business platform for the yarns and fibre industry. “Nearly 70 exhibitors took part and we are happy that the majority were pleased with the quality and quantity of visitors attending the show,” said Ms Wendy Wen, Director, Trade Fairs for Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd.

A total of 3,945 visitors attended the show, which ran concurrently with the leading home textiles trade show in Asia – Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles and the China International Knitting Trade Fair, providing attendees an overview of the complete global textile supply chain.

Mr Charles Li, Sales Manager for FMMG Technical Textiles (Suzhou) Co Ltd , a high quality yarns producer for apparel, home and technical textiles as well as Chinese distributor for Italian fibre group Filman was very pleased with the quality of the buyers attending this year. “I prefer this fair to other similar events in Europe as I am always able to find the right buyers and sales continue to increase here.”

Attending buyers were made up of woven fabrics manufacturers, knitted fabrics manufacturers, knitwear manufacturers, hosiery & socks manufacturers and top five visiting countries and regions included China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Thailand.

Return supplier Groupo Kaybee, a Singapore based producer of polyester / textured yarn and cotton fibre yarn, remarked the significance of locating the three industry events together that allowed them to target a wider market. “We’ve noticed that Yarn Expo is growing simultaneously with the market.

In the past, Europe, South America and the US have traditionally been our major trading partners but now we’re focusing on China as it has changed from an export to import orientated market,” said Head of Yarn Division, Mr Sandeep Goel.

Another happy exhibitor, Premier Mill Pvt Ltd from India showcased their range of super fine cotton yarns of up to Ne240/2. Their production covers a wide range of fine combed cotton yarns and they use the finest raw cottons of medium, long and extra long staple chosen from Egyptian, American and Indian origin.

“We’ve certainly noticed the growing opportunities to meet new potential customers from the Chinese market at this fair,” said Mr S. Ganesan, a representative of the cotton producer, who also mentioned that it was a good platform to meet existing clientele from China and abroad.

Other material on show included high count and natural fibres and yarns made from wool, silk and linen/ramie; staple fibres; regenerated and synthetic man-made fibres and yarns; specialty products; elastic, fancy and blended yarns; and computer-related services.

Visitors were just as pleased with the quality of products found on-site as well as the synergy effects of the concurrent events. Many exhibitors from Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles conducted business at the Yarn Expo, including Mr Berk Noyan from Berteks, Turkey. Mr Berks commented: “we have already found some good polyester and fancy yarn suppliers whose products are suitable for curtains and upholstery.”

Equally as impressed was Ms Lotus Huang, Vice Manager for Fujian Donglong Knitting & Textile Co Ltd who said that the fair was a must attend event, adding: “I’ve just arrived this afternoon and already I have sourced several new products, including some silk yarn.”

Yarn Expo was organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry – CCPIT, China Cotton Textile Association, China Wool Textile Association, China Chemical Fibres Association, China Bast & Leaf Fibres Textiles Association, and China Textile Information Centre.
