Interstoff Asia Essential – Spring 2014 is set to return to halls 1D & E of the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre on 19 – 21 March 2014. The international trade fair for fashionable, functional and eco textiles and garment accessories saw 229 exhibitors from 10 countries and regions attending last year’s spring show.

The next edition will be distinguished by a larger exhibitor product variety and a fringe programme covering major aspects and innovations of the textile industry. Other than sourcing products, visitors can also learn about the latest technologies and market trends through the Research & Education Zone, a series of seminars hosted by well-known experts in the industry and the Designers’ Studio, where outfits made by several local up-and-coming designers can be found.

“Located in the heart of Asia and as the strategic gateway to Mainland China, this fair provides a good marketing platform for both buyers and suppliers to establish new business contacts,” said Wendy Wen, Senior General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd.

“Functional and eco fabrics will be a large focus again while the four country and region pavilions – Elite China, Fine Japan, Great Korea and Amazing Taiwan – will feature with a bigger scale and larger product variety,” she continued. Interstoff Asia Essential has traditionally been a top event for worldwide operating apparel brands.

New version of the Trend Forum reveals the Spring / Summer 2015 trends
Discovering new trends is one of the main reasons visitors return to the show every year. This year’s Trend Forum, with a new format for this fair, will feature a new fashion showcase and parade for the first time.

Designed by the Directions Trend Committee – which is comprised of four leading trend forecasters from New York, Milan, Paris and Tokyo – the Trend Forum gives participants a better understanding of what trends will be popular next season by utilising fabrics sponsored by exhibitors. Doneger Creative Services (DCS) from the United States– the lead designer for this edition – will also release the Spring / Summer 2015 Trend Guide at the fair.

DCS explains in the Trend Guide that next year’s trends will be a convergence of technology and fashion, while the four themes that encapsulate the trends are Breathe, a silent meditation mixed with the natural indulgences of the elements; Play, a summer solstice filled with saccharine sunshine leading to a carefree existence; Dance, an eclectic energy culminating in a festival for the bizarre; and Dive, a collision of sky and sea in a botanical bounty.

Fabrics which are seductive and rustic, natural and technical, silky and decorative, and wet and rare are predicted to be in style in Spring / Summer 2015, while the print trends for next seasons are Quiet Ornamental, Fun Graphic, Artsy Digital and Mother Nature.
