China’s exports of textiles and apparel in 2011 increased by 20% over the previous year to US$247.89 billion, and were another record breaker surpassing the previous record of US$206.5 billion set in 2010.
According to provisional Chinese customs statistics, December 2011 exports of textiles and apparel grew by 9.1% over the same month of 2010 to US$21.74 billion, of which textiles rose by 12.6% to US$8.3 billion and apparel by 7.1% to US$13.44 billion.
2011 exports of textiles climbed 22.9% to US$94.66 billion, and maintained a growth of over 20% for another year; the growth was 23.6% in 2010. Textile exports reached a high of US$26 billion in July, and exports exceeded US$20 billion in eight of the months last year. 2011 exports of apparel increased by 18.3% to US$153.22 billion.
